Get Inspired: How Others Have Helped

There are many ways to get involved. Here's some examples of what of others have done that might inspire you. Or, contact Katherine to discuss your ideas and learn about specific Family Center needs.

  • A $5,000 grant from Expedia helped fund New Futures After School Program, which provides 120 children living in high-crime, low-income apartment complexes with a literacy based After-School Program and homework help.
  • Scholarships to DigiPen Institute of Technology's summer computer workshops have enabled six youth to receive computer training and an opportunity to explore the possibility of a career in game programming or computer animation.
  • Me ‘n Moms consignment stores have given approximately $100,000 in in-kind donations in the last three years. This amounts to more than 250 carloads of donated children's clothing and baby equipment
  • Bellevue-based business Atigeo closed their office for a day and 17 employees donated a day's labor to the Center for Human Services. For the Center, keeping their building in good repair is a luxury that they generally cannot indulge in, so Atigeo's donation was priceless, and allows them to maintain a warm, welcoming environment for the families and children they serve.
  • Tutta Bella restaurant in Wallingford annually hosts an evening where a percentage of profits go to Family Works. Half of the proceeds go to support the Food Bank and the other half goes to support Play Groups at the center. The Play Groups are a way to strengthen families by providing growth activities for child and parent that focus on child development.
  • Sterling Savings contributed cash grants to New Futures' family support programs in Burien as well as hosted a school supply drive in the bank lobby that helped to provide much needed back-to-school supplies for New Futures families.
  • TRI-TEC Communications contributed a fully integrated 17-phone, 4-line phone system, including installation, to the Greater Maple Valley Community Center.
